Hip Hop actively breaks down cultural, racial and gender stereotypes, creating a community who accept each for who they truly are as human beings and as artists for their skills.
The EPIC Jam is a Hip Hop jam which has been actively taking place in London for the past year bringing together people from all different cultures, backgrounds and ages. The response we have had from our last EPIC Jam has confirmed why these Hip Hop jams are needed in our dense urban cities.
Here are 4 reasons why the Hip Hop Culture can improve Social Integration:
1) Breaks Down Cultural Barriers
It doesn't matter where you're from because Hip Hop Culture has educated us that we can all be accepted despite our differences by experiencing and participating in the various urban art forms (Graffiti, Deejaying, Breaking, Rapping, Beatboxing)
2) No Age Discrimination
From a 65 year old to a 5 year old who want to experience the Hip Hop Culture, they will be treated with equal respect and encouragement knowing that Every Person Is Capable.
3) No Gender Discrimination
Whether you are a man or a woman, it's open for all to experience the Hip Hop culture
4) Positive Outlet
Despite what people read online about Hip Hop, Real Hip Hop has nothing to do with alcohol, drugs or other negative messages. It's to uplift communities and bring people together on a human level.
5) Evidence
When we look back in history when the Hip Hop culture started in the Bronx in the 1970s to this present day, we can see clearly how REAL Hip Hop culture has socially integrated and uplifted communities in each country in the world.
