People from different cultures, backgrounds and ages all came together to engage in positive urban arts. Breaking, Graffiti, DJing and Rapping are the tools we have to empower and educate our young people towards a positive way of life.
The Mayor of Brent agreed in the power of community and to use Hip Hop as a way to engage our young people in a positive way.
The Urban Arts Festival was hosted by Wembley Park with Every Person Is Capable curating the ‘Concrete Area’ in collaboration with three other organisations HipHoppera, Hip Hop Says & Inspiral Arts.
Why is the Hip Hop Culture needed to get our young people away from negative influences and towards a positive mindset?
- Confidence Building
Being able to learn and master an urban art not only boosts a young persons confidence but it also allows them to believe that they are capable. It can have a significant positive impact on how they approach different challenges in their life.
- Social Integration.
Expressing yourself through Hip Hop exposes young people to connect with people from different backgrounds, ages and ethnicities; broadening their perspectives and life experience.
- Health & Well Being.
Hip Hop advocates a healthy and conscious way of living through taking care of your mind, body and soul. Young people who start to understand the importance of being self-aware and taking care of their mind will be able to face life challenges in a more positive way.
- Self Expression.
Hip Hop allows young people to use their energy to tell their story through the different urban art forms (Graffiti, Breaking, DJing, Beatboxing, Rapping). It’s pure freedom of expression.

Hip Hop actively breaks down cultural, racial and gender stereotypes, creating a community who accept each for who they truly are as human beings and as artists for their skills.
The EPIC Jam is a Hip Hop jam which has been actively taking place in London for the past year bringing together people from all different cultures, backgrounds and ages.
The response we have had from our last EPIC Jam has confirmed why these Hip Hop jams are needed in our dense urban cities.
Here are 4 reasons why the Hip Hop Culture can improve Social Integration:
1) Breaks Down Cultural Barriers
It doesn’t matter where you’re from because Hip Hop Culture has educated us that we can all be accepted despite our differences by experiencing and participating in the various urban art forms (Graffiti, Deejaying, Breaking, Rapping, Beatboxing)
2) No Age Discrimination
From a 65 year old to a 5 year old who want to experience the Hip Hop Culture, they will be treated with equal respect and encouragement knowing that Every Person Is Capable.
3) No Gender Discrimination
Whether you are a man or a woman, it’s open for all to experience the Hip Hop culture
4) Positive Outlet
Despite what people read online about Hip Hop, Real Hip Hop has nothing to do with alcohol, drugs or other negative messages. It’s to uplift communities and bring people together on a human level.
When we look back in history when the Hip Hop culture started in the Bronx in the 1970s to this present day, we can see clearly how REAL Hip Hop culture has socially integrated and uplifted communities in each country in the world.

Spent a full day with the legendary Matthew King (who works as a video journalist for the Press Association) who filmed and edited our EPIC Journey video. You can find the video on the home page!
The main purpose for making the video was because we really wanted everyone who is supporting the EPIC (Every Person Is Capable) Journey Project to understand and hear from us rather than reading it in a blog for example. We have tried to be clear and show our reasons for wanting to fo this project.
It is something which is close to our hearts and whenever we think about doing something seriously, I really feel this time, we have pushed and WILL make this project EPIC!!!
Peace and love to everyone reading this 🙂
